04. Folder Actions and Folder Info [4:19]

Description: This video provides an overview of the “Folder Actions” and “Folder Info” tabs using the File Manipulator plug-in.

Let’s take a closer look at File Manipulator operations. Let’s begin with Folder Actions. So I’ve opened the demo file, and I’ve already registered the plug-in in “LIVE” mode. Next let’s navigate to the Folder Actions tab. This tab has folder manipulations including create, copy, move, rename, and delete.

0:34 The “Folder Create” button will create a new folder on the Source Path. Specify the path here. Ensure the Source Path contains the folder name. Then select “Folder Create.” A result of 0 means success.

0:56 “Folder Copy” will copy a folder and its contents from the Source Path to the Destination Path. I’ll go ahead and specify the Source Path. Next I’ll add a Destination Path. This should differ from the Source Path. Then select the “Folder Copy” button. Here is Folder1 copied from the desktop.

1:29 “Folder Move” will move a folder and its contents from the Source Path to the Destination Path. Let’s specify the Source folder. Then I’ll change the Destination Path. Then select “Folder Move.” Here is the folder that was just moved.

2:00 This button will rename a folder from the Source Path to the Destination Folder name. Let’s specify the Source Folder, and the Destination Path is not needed. Then add a Destination Folder name. Select the “Folder Rename” button. Here is the renamed folder.

2:36 The “Folder Delete” button will a delete a folder from its Source Path. I’ll go ahead and specify the Source Path to delete. Then select the “Folder Delete” button.

2:55 Next, let’s take a look at obtaining folder information. Here I have the “Folder Info” tab open. Select a folder in the Source Path.

3:12 “Get Folder Size” will return the size in bytes.

3:18 “Creation Date” will return the date the folder was created.

3:25 “Modify Date” returns the date of the last time it was modified.

3:32 “Access Date” gives you the date the folder was last accessed.

3:39 “Folder Exists” will return a 0 if it exists.

3:46 This is just a brief overview of the features and possibilities of the File Manipulator.
