23. Initial Batch Import [3:07]

Description: This video provides an overview of an initial contacts import into the Core4 CRM.

Let’s take a look at how to import contact records into your Core4 solution. First let’s open up a clean copy of the Core4. This is when you will create new users and passwords.
Note: Opening a clean copy of Core4 before the Batch Import is recommended to prevent duplicate data entry.

0:34 Contacts tab > Navigate to Core > Batch Import. I will be importing a .csv file, but any FileMaker-supported file type may be pulled in. Please refer to the Core4 User Manual for a quick reference list of supported files.

0:58 Now the Field Mapping screen will open. The fields from your data file are listed on left and are also called Source Fields. The Core4 fields are listed on the right and are called Target Fields. Selecting an “Arrange By” option may assist you in arranging fields. Go ahead and choose the import options most appropriate for you. Now let’s match our fields from the contact list with fields in the Core4.

1:42 After all fields are properly aligned ensure there is an arrow between each field. This arrow indicates that the field will be imported. Now select the “Import” button.

2:18 So now when we browse through our Core4 contact records we can see that Company records have been created, as well as Individual records which have been linked to their proper company.
