Real-time Syncing?
« on: October 30, 2015, 03:33:32 PM »
Is it possible to achieve real-time syncing between a Filemaker database using the ABM plug-in and OS Contacts (Address Book)? I.e. when data is added or altered in one it is automatically and instantly updated in the other. Like Contacts, Mail, Notes and other apps between devices and Macs via iCloud. My client would really like that to happen as, if the system depends on clicking a button to push or pull, there is a chance that forgetting to click will lead to un-synced data.

Since the plug-in must be called from within your FileMaker solution, it isn't possible for "live syncing" to occur if someone edits a contact within the Mac OS Address Book application. So, the only option would either be for a user to call the script (via a button click, etc.), or have a routine that automatically calls the plug-in for contact pulling and updating when your solution is either opened or upon closing.

Thanks for using our plug-in, and have a nice day!
