multi-user QB/shared FM database - FM Books Connector
« on: April 22, 2015, 09:24:21 AM »
Have multi-user QB and the Host FM database running on one computer. FM Books Connector works fine.

When a 2nd user remotely 'shares' the host database and needs to post QB transactions, does the 2nd computer need its own FM Books Connector? If so, what registration information needs to be used in the 'PCQB_register' function when posting transactions from the remote user? Host or remote registration?

Each computer that is posting transactions from your FileMaker solution to the QuickBooks file will need a licensed copy of the FMBooks Connector plug-in installed on it (as well as a copy of QuickBooks, even if the QuickBooks isn't open, since the plug-in uses resources from the QuickBooks application to communicate with the QuickBooks file).

The "PCQB_Register" plug-in function call only needs to be called once in order to register the plug-in on the machine. Once the plug-in has been registered and is in live mode, there is no further need for that function call. If you have a license ID that is good for several seats, the same registration information can be used for multiple users until all seats have been taken for that license. Once all seats have been taken for a license ID, another license ID would be needed to register the plug-in on a machine.

Thanks for using our plug-in!
