Pulling Current Item Quantities on Hand
« on: September 23, 2014, 02:25:46 PM »
I'm just starting to implement the FMBooks plugin to enhance the capabilities of our FileMaker CRM.

I'm a little lost trying to figure out how to migrate our QB items to filemaker to be used when creating invoices within filemaker to be pushed to QB. I also would like to check for new items and updated quantity every 12 hours.

Any guidance at all would be much appreciated.

You'll probably want to create a FMP ItemUtility table and populate it with the results from an ItemQueryRequest. At a minimum you'll want a qbListID field (text) and a qbFullName field that will be populated with their respective values. Those two fields can be the basis of a ValueList you'd use to match records in your Items table to their counterparts in QB.

A script can update that table with new/modified records, and can also update the any of the Quantity (OnHand, OnOrder, OnSalesOrder) fields that are relevant. There are some special twists and turns in the API with regard to Items, and FMP/QB integration has a steeper learning curve than is immediately apparent. Feel free to post any specific questions or problems you encounter.
