I have a client who is attempting to update an estimate in QuickBooks with a date that is within the closing period, and as a result is getting the error below. Removing the password is not an option, nor is changing the date to be after the end of the closing period.

Is there a way to allow the client to modify the estimate?

Thanks in advance,
Jonathan

CODE: 3171
SEVERITY: Error
MESSAGE: An attempt was made to modify a fieldValue with a date that is on or before the closing date of the company. If you are sure you really want to do this, please ask a user with Admin privileges to remove the password for editing transactions on or before to closing date (this setting is in the Accounting Company Preferences), then try again.

Checking the "Exclude Estimates, Sales Orders, and Purchase Orders from closing date restrictions" checkbox on the Company Preferences tab of the Accounting tab in the Preferences dialog box should do the trick. He could also temporarily change or remove the closing date restrictions entirely. None of these can be done via the API / plug-in, however.

Thanks for your response & suggestion. Even if it can't be done via the API, at least it's another option to present to the client.

Thanks again,
Jonathan
