OSR version
« on: May 19, 2013, 07:36:52 PM »
I'm new to FM Books Connector and reading through the developer guide.  Pg. 17 begins instruction on accessing QuickBooks OSR.  The first in the list, New OSR (Beta) is the one that matches the screenshot in the developer's guide.  I am using QB Accountant 2013 so I made the following settings: SDK version 12.0, Format qbXML, Editions US.

The select message dropdown doesn't seem to work so I'm not able to select a message class.  I've tried in Chrome and Safari on the Mac and Chrome and IE8 on Windows (where QB and the plugin reside).

The QBFC6, on the other hand, does have a workable dropdown.  Is this a viable alternative or will I run into problems if I use this?

The drop down is flaky, and the Select Message's scroll bar is useless in all but a few browsers. Try scrolling through the list using your mouse's scroll wheel--or, if you're on a Mac with a trackpad, the appropriate "scroll swipe" gesture--to find the Message you want. Once that message is highlighted, click on it.

On this Win8 PC I find Firefox is the only workable browser to use for this. IE = blank page, Chrome = unusable. Just awful.

Tip: Never task a programmer to do a web designers job :D

356 validation errors...thats a sackable offence in my world!

Thanks Geoffrey and John.  I'll see if I can access it on FireFox on a virtual PC.

Is there any problem in using QFC6?  Have the classes changed?

I'm unfamiliar with QFC6. What is it?

Sorry, - should be QBFC6.  It is the next option in the list: http://dev.developer.intuit.com/qbSDK-current/OSR/OnscreenRef.html

I tried the new OSR with Firefox on Windows 7 using Parallels.  No luck.

I just clicked on the link you provided and discovered that you're linking to a page that's WAY out of date. Try this one...

https://member.developer.intuit.com/qbSDK-current/Common/newOSR/index.html

It's still a less than ideal experience and does nothing to contradict your tip regarding programmers doing a web designer's job, but it will provide the info you need.

I'm remoting in on a Mac to a Terminal Server and there's no longer a single browser that can read it. Pure jokes!

I've just set up a VirtualBox running XP and got a copy of the QBXML SDK from the IDN (Intuit Developers Network). Installation was simple and IE7 works great for it. Finally I have a reference that works! :)
