I noticed that the transaction IDs returned at like EKNP4A8AD0C1 instead of the normal transaction IDs seen in Paypal directly . making it hard to compare the 2 transactions by searching within paypal and auditing.

to elaborate based on further reading, the transaction ID is the Payflow Transaction ID (12 alphanumeric characters) and what shows online through paypal is their 17-character string transaction ID. is there not a way to have both the payflow trans ID (as its needed to refund/credit) and also get the 17 character transaction ID for auditing purposes?

According to the functions guide you can get different transaction IDs using the PCCC_GetResp() function. If you go to the functions guide and scroll down to the bottom where it specifies the “PayPal Keys” you will find all possible transaction return values for PayPal. Try all of those key values using the PCCC_GetResp() function and you should find the correct transaction ID you are looking for. Based on your post, our developer said that the “PPREF” key may be the one you are looking to use. Hopefully that will give you the desired ID you need for your solution.
