Filemaker esignature installation
« on: September 19, 2011, 10:25:09 AM »
Hi
We purchased a non-LCD Topaz esignature capture pad for Filemaker databases and cannot get it to work with the DB it is used with. Per the instructions, I did the following:

1. Put the .fmx plug-in file in the extensions directory of our Filemaker application folder.
2. Successfully registered the using the PCES_Demo.fp7 file and the license key we were provided.
3. Opened the database we are using and verified in it that in Preferences -> Plug-ins, the signature pad software was listed.

The signature pad works with the DemoOCX appl. they provide, however, it does not work with the database.

Anyone have any ideas what is wrong?

Paul

To better assist you can you answer the following questions below?

1) What is the model of the Topaz device you are using?

2) Does the device work with the supplied "PCES_Demo.fp7" filemaker file?

3) Are you receiving an error message?
-What error?

Thanks for responding, answers to your questions:

1) What is the model of the Topaz device you are using?

TopazSystems Siglite 1X5 Pressure Sensitive Electronic Signature Capture Padw/Stylus and USB, version  3.74

2) Does the device work with the supplied "PCES_Demo.fp7" filemaker file?

No, it doesn't work with PCES_Demo.fp7 DB.

3) Are you receiving an error message?

We don't get an error actually, it only states 'UNSIGNED' in the field on the form.

I understand that when clicking inside the signature field on the form, that a pop-up is supposed to display over the Filemaker DB. We are not even getting this pop-up.

This is a symptom ssimilar to when older drivers are installed for the Topaz device. Please try using the latest drivers from the Topaz website rather than the drivers supplied with the device.

The Ink tip? Topaz may have good instructions for modifying the physical hardware. You should be able to post that question here and hopefully get an answer soon  :) http://www.topazsystems.com/contact.htm
