On My Mac folders
« on: August 26, 2011, 02:31:19 AM »
How do I make the Import Folders script in the Demo file see the folders in the "On My Mac" section in Mail app.
At the moment it is just returning the following folder list
Deleted Messages
Drafts
INBOX
Sent Messages

If this is a stupid question I apologise in advance...

The Mail Manipulator can only import mail from the folders that visible in the /users/library/Mail folder. If you navigate to the /users/library/Mail folder you can see where the Mac Mail application specifies what folders are visible/available for your specific accounts. Each Mac Mail account will be listed in this area. The attached images show a POP and IMAP mail account and corresponding accessible folders.

As you can see all folders and sub-folders for IMAP and Exchange accounts are available/visible. POP mail accounts only allow you access to the basic “Inbox” folder and ignores all other sub-folders.  Since Mac does not show or allow access to these sub-folders, then neither can our plug-in.

I hope that made sense and helped clarify. This functionality may change on Lion, but we have not yet officially released a Lion compatible plug-in.
