Runtime Solutions and the Change Printer Plug in
« on: December 05, 2009, 06:35:20 PM »
I need a plug in that will determine the current default printer for for the user's machine and then set that as the default printer for a FileMaker 9 solution that I distribute as a runtime solution.

Each time the runtime solution starts, it determines the current default machine printer, sets that as the default printer for the runtime solution which will then print using the default machine printer. No changes of printers is required within the solution. I would prefer no need for user input.

Can this plug in carry out this type of function.

Thanks,

John

Yes, using the Change Printer plug-in you can determine the current default printer for the user's machine and then set that default printer to print in FileMaker. The plug-in also works in a runtime environment. A special build may be required in a runtime environment as specific registry keys must be present on the machine. Please contact Productive Computing to inquire about this special runtime plug-in build.
